The Northwest Connecticut Diaper Drive, a joint project of The Register Citizen and United Way of Northwest Connecticut launched over the summer, has been honored with an honorable mention for Best Community Service Project by Suburban Newspapers of America.

With the help of Shaw's Supermarket in Canton, the effort raised enough money to distribute more than 60,000 to local food banks and social service agencies, including FISH, the Salvation Army and the Susan B. Anthony Project women's shelter.
